Origami Turtle by Slitwalker Origami Turtle by Slitwalker
This is the newest addition to my modular animal collection of origami:) He was actually kinda fun to make, but his shell didn't want to stay together. I got it though:D

188 units, about 5 hours total...actually not that big. Fits in my hand:)

*Not my original design* The concept is that of Gouhara Toshio and was exhibited at the 5th Origami Tanteidan Convention

I'll have to try to find the image again...I don't think I used an actual tutorial. I think I just had a fairly clear picture and used that to guess-timate how it would go together:) I'll look for it...but you could probably find it through Google or something

Do you mean the diagram with all the triangles? That's really all I need, lol.
I just tried googling around for it, there are only different variations of modular turtles, and thus far, your design still looks the best in cleanliness.
Thanks! ^_^

Well, yeah ok confusion:D I only had a diagram on how to make each individual triangle unit, and just followed a finished picture to put the whole thing together. Couldn't find a diagram saying where to put each triangle to get it working.

Here is the site that I used to make the triangles though!

Also where I learned to make the Swan and Peacock I have up here. Enjoy

I've seen a couple of pieces of modular origami like that before, and I'm curious: how do you make each unit, and how do you lock them together?

Its a trade secret...so I'm not at liberty to tell you
...no I'm kidding:) Its pretty simple actually. Just takes a lot of time. I learned from this site here:

I hope you're good at reading pictures...or understand the language its in:) Too put them together I'm sure you can use glue...but I don't really like to cause I feel it takes away from the...uniqueness? Traditionality? Something like that:) Enjoy!

You've really outdone yourself this time. I'm used to your amazing Origiami, but this takes my breath away. Its so complex looking and striking.

This goes in my favourites, along with your other Origami, your elephant, swan etc.

Very well done!:+fav:

Thank you:) This is probably the least complex of the 3 that use a similar technique but was still difficult. It took me less paper to make so I'll probably end up making more of these little turtles and leaving them places at random like I do napkin roses:D

Now, see.. that's just my luck. Why I ask you, do I not find random napkin roses at all? You probably make people's day when you do that :D

They'll think they have a Valentine. That's a point... good thing to present to a prospective partner. The roses I mean.... not the turtle. What's more original than a bunch of paper roses you made yourself!

thats very true:) i actually did that for her a few times, but she saw me making them so she knew they were coming. its funny cause i made some while working at the dining center and left them in the napkin baskets...dont know what happened to them though
